What this calculator tells you

Store-level profit needs more than an order margin. Payment processing, fixed app subscriptions, fulfillment, and ad spend all compete for the same revenue, and fixed costs do not scale down with a slow month.

Revenue = orders x average order value. Net profit = revenue - product and shipping costs - percentage payment fees - fixed payment fees - monthly app costs - advertising spend.

When to use it

Use it for a monthly P&L check, comparing a slow month with a strong month, or testing whether a new app subscription leaves enough contribution behind.

Use conservative inputs

Start with your landed cost, real fee rates, and a pessimistic advertising cost. The result is more useful when the assumptions are honest.

Watch the common mistake

Multiplying an order-level margin by sales while forgetting fixed monthly software costs can overstate profit when order volume is low.

Frequently asked questions

Should the Shopify subscription be included?

Yes. Include the plan, apps, and other recurring software costs in the monthly software field so the result reflects the store as it actually runs.

Are product costs per order?

Yes. Enter landed product cost and fulfillment cost per average order. The calculator multiplies each by the monthly order count.

Does this replace a bookkeeping report?

No. It is a planning model for the costs entered. Taxes, refunds, chargebacks, payroll, and other overhead belong in a full financial review.
