What this calculator tells you
A reorder point tells you when inventory needs attention. A reorder quantity tells you how much to buy once that trigger is reached, while respecting stock already on the way and supplier order rules.
When to use it
Use it when preparing a purchase order for a SKU with a minimum order quantity, a case pack, or a known target inventory level.
Start with your landed cost, real fee rates, and a pessimistic advertising cost. The result is more useful when the assumptions are honest.
Ordering the full target stock without subtracting open purchase orders can create duplicate inventory and a sudden cash-flow problem.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as economic order quantity?
No. This is an operational replenishment calculation based on target stock and order constraints. Economic order quantity also balances ordering cost and carrying cost.
Why did the result round higher than the base need?
The calculator rounds up to the supplier order multiple. A case pack or MOQ can make the practical order larger than the theoretical need.
What should target stock include?
Include expected demand through the next review, safety stock, and any seasonal buffer you deliberately want to hold.
